This policy explains how Awaken Dev's ("we", "us") handles information in the Awaken: AI Fitness RPG app for Android ("Awaken" or "the app", package in.org.awaken.awaken) and on this website. Awaken is published on Google Play by Awaken Dev's. Questions? Email support@awaken.org.in.

1Who is responsible

Awaken Dev's, the developer of Awaken, decides how and why your information is used (we are the "data fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the "controller" under the GDPR). You can reach us at support@awaken.org.in.

2Information we collect

Your Google account

Awaken requires Google Sign-In. When you sign in, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture link and a unique account identifier with us. We use them to create your Awaken account, keep it secure and link your cloud save to you. We never see your Google password, and Awaken asks Google for no other permissions.

Information you enter

• Your hunter name and the avatar character you pick.
• Your profile photo, if you choose one from your gallery. We keep a small copy (at most 512 pixels on its longest side) in your cloud save so it comes back when you sign in again. It is not shown on the leaderboard.
• Your age, height and weight, and the answers you give during the awakening (setup), such as your goals and preferred training.
• Quests you create and your settings (for example reminder time, sound and theme).

Your activity in the app

• Quests and when you complete them, XP, levels, ranks, streaks, rewards and achievements.
• Results of dungeons, Academy games and challenges.
• Workouts: rep counts from camera-verified exercises, and for GPS-verified walks and runs the distance, duration and route (a series of GPS points with times).

All of the above is kept on your phone. While you are signed in, it is also copied to your cloud save a few seconds after each change, so you can restore your progress on another phone.

The season leaderboard

While "Show me on the season leaderboard" is on (Settings › Account; it is on by default), we publish your hunter name, avatar character, rank, gates opened, season XP and streak to the leaderboard, where other signed-in players can see them. We also use the leaderboard's ranks to show figures like "top 5% of hunters" on rank cards. Switch it off at any time to remove your entry.

Sign-ins and devices

Each time you sign in with Google, we record the date and time and the phone you used: its brand and model, Android version, Awaken version, and a random ID that the app creates for that installation (not your phone's hardware IDs). We also note when you sign out, and when the app was last used on that phone. We use this to keep your account secure (for example, to see which phones it is signed in on), to help with support, and to know which phones to support. It is for our internal use only and is never shown to other players.

Usage statistics (only if you allow it)

Awaken asks once whether you allow usage statistics; you can change your answer anytime in Settings › Account › Share usage stats. If you allow them, we record for each day: how many times you open Awaken, how long you spend in it, how many quests you complete, your verified workouts, dungeons and Academy games, how many times you share a card, the Awaken version, and whether the home-screen widget is added. We use them, internally only, to see how Awaken is used and what to improve. If you don't allow them, none of this is recorded.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your contacts, messages, call logs, files, advertising ID or payment details. Awaken contains no advertising and no third-party analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools: the sign-in records and usage statistics above are counted by Awaken itself and go only to us.

3What stays on your phone

The following is never uploaded to us:

• Progress photos. They are stored in the app's private storage on your phone and are not included in your cloud save.
• Camera images used to count reps. They are analysed live on your phone by Google ML Kit to detect your body position, and are never recorded or saved.
• Your voice in Academy speaking exercises. Your phone's speech recognition service turns your speech into text for the exercise. Awaken does not record, store or upload audio. On most phones this service is provided by Google; depending on your phone and its settings, Google may process the audio under Google's Privacy Policy.
• Backup files you export. They go only where you choose to save or send them.
• Step counts. The home-screen widget reads them from your phone's step counter and keeps them on your phone.
• Notifications and the home-screen widget. These are created on your phone.

4App permissions

Awaken asks for each permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can turn any of them off in Android settings; only that feature stops working.

5How we use information

• To run Awaken: quests, XP, ranks, streaks, verification of workouts and estimates such as calories burned (worked out on your phone from your weight and distance).
• To save your progress to the cloud and restore it when you sign in on another phone.
• To run the season leaderboard and the rank statistics on Hunter Cards.
• To keep your account secure and help with support, using your sign-in and device records.
• To see how Awaken is used and decide what to improve, using usage statistics if you allow them.
• To answer your support requests and feedback.
• To keep Awaken secure and fair, for example removing offensive hunter names or entries that break our Terms.
• To meet legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising or to build marketing profiles, and we make no automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent (which you can withdraw at any time), on what is necessary to provide the service you asked for under our Terms, on our legitimate interest in keeping Awaken secure, and on legal obligations. Usage statistics rely on your consent; sign-in and device records rely on our legitimate interest in keeping accounts secure.

6Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with:

• Supabase (supabase.com), which hosts our database and sign-in service and stores your account and cloud save on our behalf.
• Google, for Google Sign-In; for Google ML Kit, which runs on your phone (the ML Kit software may send Google basic technical diagnostics such as device model and performance figures, never your camera images); and for speech recognition as described above.
• Other players, who see your leaderboard details while the leaderboard setting is on.
• People and apps you choose: Hunter Cards and progress comparisons you share go only to the app or person you pick in the share sheet.
• Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
• A successor, if Awaken is ever transferred to another organisation. We would tell you first, and this policy would continue to protect your information.

7Storage and security

Your account and cloud save are stored on Supabase's cloud servers, which may be located outside your country, including outside India. Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and database access rules allow each account to read and change only its own save. Data on your phone is kept in the app's private storage. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires.

9Your rights and choices

• Get a copy: Settings › Backup › Export saves a file with your Awaken data.
• Correct: change your hunter name and settings in the app, or email us to correct anything else, such as your age, height or weight.
• Delete: Settings › Account › Delete account, or email us (see awaken.org.in/delete-account). Your account and cloud save are permanently deleted 30 days after your request.
• Leave the leaderboard: Settings › Account › "Show me on the season leaderboard".
• Usage statistics: Settings › Account › "Share usage stats". Switching it off stops them straight away.
• Permissions: turn any permission off in Android settings.
• Sign out: Settings › Account › Sign out. Your cloud save stays in your account until you ask us to delete it.

Depending on where you live, laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the GDPR give you the right to access, correct, erase and port your personal data, to withdraw consent, to object to or restrict certain uses, to nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to, and to have your grievances addressed. Email support@awaken.org.in (our grievance contact) and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Data Protection Board of India.

10Children and teens

Awaken is for people aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information; if we learn that we have, we delete it. If you are under 18, you may use Awaken only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, who agrees to our Terms and this policy on your behalf. Parents and guardians can email us at any time to review or delete their child's information.

11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
